Quiet Improvements, Faster Outcomes: Refining the Path for PowerOn Development Requests

MDT’s Solutions Delivery team is piloting Quick Build, a lighter-weight pathway designed to help smaller PowerOn development requests move faster and more efficiently. By reducing unnecessary friction behind the scenes, MDT is creating a smoother, more transparent experience for clients.

How we’ve been refining the way smaller development requests move behind the scenes

While much of our work with clients happens front and center, some of the most impactful improvements happen quietly behind the scenes. Over the last several months, our Solutions Delivery team has been piloting new ways to streamline simpler PowerOn development requests—reducing friction, improving turnaround times, and helping work move more efficiently from request to completion.

Historically, all development requests have followed the same general path regardless of size or complexity. That approach has served us well in ensuring consistency and quality, but we also recognized an opportunity: not every request needs the same level of process overhead.

Sometimes meaningful improvement isn’t about one giant change—it’s about quietly adjusting the right levers over time.

That’s where our “Quick Build” pilot comes in.

Quick Build is designed specifically for smaller, lower-complexity requests—things like simple PowerOn updates, report tweaks, or clearly defined enhancements. The goal is to create a lighter-weight pathway that allows these requests to move faster while still maintaining the quality and governance our clients expect.

At a high level, we set out to:

  • Reduce turnaround time for simpler requests
  • Minimize unnecessary back-and-forth
  • Create a smoother intake experience
  • Allow advisors and engineers to spend more time building and less time navigating process
  • Improve predictability and transparency for clients

As we’ve tested and refined this approach, one thing has become very clear: many of the things we’re trying to solve are the same things we’ve heard from clients over time.

You told us:

  • Speed matters
  • Simplicity matters
  • Transparency matters
  • And not every request should feel like a project

That feedback has helped shape the direction we’re heading.

What’s been especially exciting is that we’re already seeing encouraging signs early in the pilot. By streamlining intake, reducing unnecessary touchpoints, and simplifying how smaller requests move through the system, we’ve been able to create faster momentum on the right types of work.

This is still evolving—and intentionally so. We’re continuing to observe, learn, and refine before scaling the broader vision further. Long term, that vision includes a more flexible delivery model with multiple pathways depending on the complexity of the request, ranging from grab-and-go solutions to quick enhancements to full custom development.

At the end of the day, our focus remains the same: delivering solutions in a way that is thoughtful, scalable, and aligned to the needs of our clients.

Some improvements are loud. Others happen quietly behind the scenes.

We’re excited about both.
