We’re excited to share the latest video in our ongoing series, The Voices of MDT, featuring the associates, partners, and clients who are helping credit unions move forward.
In this episode, we sit down with David Black, EVP and COO of Embers Credit Union, to discuss partnership, digital innovation, and the infrastructure credit unions need to bring new ideas to life.
A Partner Helping Credit Unions Move Forward
Based in Marquette, Michigan, Embers trusts MDT for much more than hosted technology. David points to the tools, expertise, community, and project management support MDT provides — capabilities his team would have a hard time accessing on its own.
“MDT is probably our most important partner,” highlights David.
What stands out most to David is MDT’s commitment to continuous improvement. As the technology environment changes, MDT continues to evolve with it, recognizing opportunities to improve and taking meaningful steps forward.
Creating the Foundation for Digital Innovation
One of the biggest opportunities David sees is MDT’s cloud hosting solution. Embers already has strong tools in place, including its Symitar core and Banno Digital Platform.
The challenge is connecting and extending those tools in a secure, scalable, and manageable way.
Cloud infrastructure requires specialized expertise, security considerations, and long-term support. David explained how Embers could try to build something internally, but not in a way able to scale like MDT’s solution.
For Embers, Custom Development for Banno opens the door to more personalized and effective digital experiences.
Extending the Member Experience Into Banno
If a new product requires members to call the contact center or visit a branch, success can quickly create operational strain. A strong digital experience helps reduce friction by allowing members to engage in the channel they already use.
With MDT’s support, Embers can move from possibility to execution. The credit union can build on the technology it already has, bring new ideas into Banno and create experiences reflecting its own strategy and member needs.
“There are other ways to get there,” said David. “But to get there as holistically and effectively, I don’t think there’s another partner that can do it as well as MDT.
