Training Specialist – Farmington Hills, MI

Salary Range: $55,000 – 75,000 (Based on Professional Experience)

POSITION LOCATION

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Currently, 5 days of on-site work per month are required. 

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for assisting in planning, developing, and implementing internal and external training activities.  Identifies training needs and designs support materials including trainer guides, audio-visual aids, computer presentations, manuals, and workbooks.  Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and participant performance.  Maintains training library resources and distributes materials as needed.  Assists in the preparation of the training budget and coordinates library resources with training objectives and goals.  Provides support in the planning and implementation of product training for financial institution conversions. Provides internal and external documentation for products and services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists management in identifying company and client training and development needs, including software, online communication, computers, and communication equipment.
  • Evaluates training programs, services, and new technology. Provides recommendations and suggestions for improvements in training or new training areas.
  • Designs and develops training procedures and programs. Prepares trainer guides, audio-visual aids, student manuals, workbooks, training exercises, and reference materials.
  • Conducts training sessions and ensures students gain an understanding of the application or equipment.
  • Gathers, analyzes, translates and composes technical information into clear, readable documents for use by technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Represents the Company professionally in contacts with clients, vendors, and trade professionals.
  • Ensures requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved.
  • Ensures communications are efficient and effective.
  • Ensures the Company’s professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally.
  • Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology.
  • Assists and informs personnel as needed.
  • Keeps management well informed of training activities and any significant problems.
  • Completes required reports, records, and other documentation.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
  • Uses technical writing skills in a variety of ways, such as managing templates and procedures, writing newsletters, and maintaining document libraries.
  • Stays current on training programs and procedures, new products, technology changes, and new teaching methods.
  • Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Assumes all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience and education.
  • Additional related training in IT applications and systems and financial institution operations.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in training-related positions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of IT applications and products.
  • Knowledge of training systems and resources.
  • Extensive knowledge of software programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of credit union operations.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. (Such as in a typical office.)
  • Frequent in-state and/or out-of-state travel including overnight.
  • Long duration of computer workstation usage.
  • Additional hours as required.
