Our History
Member Driven Technologies:
It began as a discussion between two groups of Michigan credit unions with a similar idea:
Could credit unions develop a way to share the cost of technology in order to reduce their individual IT costs?
The two groups decided to combine efforts. The objective was to start a technology company which would consolidate the credit unions’ IT resources—financial, technical, human and facilities—and provide:
- Share, loan, and core processing services
- Wide Area Network management
- Relief from the ever-increasing cost of technology by advantageous purchase consolidation
- Increased technological capability at a lower cost than each credit union would incur independently
- The ability to react quickly to market and technology changes
The credit unions hired technology consulting group Doeren Mayhew, with assistance from Holzman, Ritter & Leduc, PLLC, to conduct a feasibility study and develop a five-year business plan.
As a result of the plan, the seven credit unions came together to form a credit union service organization (CUSO) for technology. In early 2003, The IT Group, LLC, was registered with the state of Michigan, doing business as Member Driven Technologies. The CUSO became fully operational in July, 2003.
Since that time, Member Driven Technologies has provided cost-effective, innovative IT solutions to credit unions throughout the United States.
